End Crisis Mode: Auto-Disable Team Groups When Resolved
Neurodivergent teams activate crisis modes for urgent issues. This workflow automatically disables the crisis team group when the issue is resolved, returning the team to normal operations.
Trigger
Updated Issue
Fires when an existing issue is changed in the Jira project you configure — for example its status, assignee, or any other field on the issue is updated. Only issues in that project produce an event. It does not fire on comment activity: adding, editing, or deleting a comment on an issue will not produce an event from this trigger.
Action
Disable a Slack user group
Disables a specified, currently enabled slack user group by its unique id, effectively archiving it by setting its 'date delete' timestamp; the group is not permanently deleted and can be re-enabled.
Why this helps
You create a crisis team group for urgent production issues, but forget to disable it after resolution. Team members stay in crisis-mode communication even after the issue is fixed.
- Automatically return teams to normal operations after crisis resolution
- Reduce unnecessary high-alert communication after issues are fixed
- Clean up team groups without manual intervention
Setup
Build it in a few focused steps.
- 1Connect Jira and Slack to Notis (one-time).
- 2Create an automation with the prompt: 'When an issue status changes to Done in Jira and it has the label Crisis or Production-Down, disable the related Slack user group (e.g., Crisis-Response-Team).'
- 3Select 'Updated Issue' as the trigger.
- 4Specify which team group to disable based on the issue label or project.
- 5Test by marking a crisis issue as Done and verifying the team group is disabled.
Questions about this workflow
Does disabling a group delete it?
No. It's archived and can be re-enabled if the issue reopens.
How do you know which team group to disable?
Notis matches the issue label or project to a team group name. You specify the mapping in your prompt.
Can I keep the group enabled but just archive the channel instead?
Yes. Use a different action: 'Archive the #crisis-response Slack channel instead of disabling the team group.'
